What We Do for our Community
We are in the middle of a mental health crisis. Since the pandemic, rates of mental illness including anxiety, substance use disorder and depression have increased.
Many Americans (especially teens) report symptoms of an anxiety or depressive disorder, and a substantial number of people feel their mental health needs not being met. We need to change this - and it all starts by having the conversation around mental health.
Our Mission
Movement For Mental Health is dedicated to promoting joyful physical activity as an important part of each person’s mental health journey. We stand for movement in all forms, take the emphasis off calories, weight, numbers and any stigma around body size, ability, age, gender or race. We stand in solidarity with those who struggle with mental health and are committed to opening the conversation around mental health awareness for people of all sizes and backgrounds. Our annual “Miles for Mental Health” run/walk held in greater Boston will be a community celebration of the fact that it’s ok to not be ok.
“Miles for Mental Health created a community of belonging and acceptance around mental health that is truly an inspiration. The message they are sending is changing the world one day at a time. I look forward to being a part of this event yearly!”
